What is Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) and who is it for?
SRTIP presents its SPark Freezone as a Sharjah innovation hub where a company can be set up within a business ecosystem designed around growth, collaboration and long-term operations. The reviewed official page places company formation alongside research-and-development laboratories, office facilities, events and partner services. Its audience is not confined to one company size: the page specifically addresses startups, SMEs, researchers, enterprises, investors and innovation companies. That makes SRTIP a proposition to assess where the business model has a genuine innovation, research, technology, product-development or collaborative-workspace dimension.

Which business activities and license types does Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) offer?
The SRTIP page states that SPark issues commercial, service, industrial and consultancy licences. It also identifies specialist research-and-development and innovation-focused permits. These are distinct published categories rather than a substitute for checking an individual activity code. The same page says there are more than 1,500 business activities and that compatible activities may be structured under one licence, with the licensing team guiding the application. The proposed work, rather than a broad label such as technology or consulting, should determine the licence route and the permitted activity combination.

How many residence visas can a Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) company sponsor?
The reviewed SRTIP page advertises immigration support, including guidance on residency solutions, visa applications and related government processes. It does not publish a standard residence-visa allocation for every company, licence or workspace. A founder should therefore not assume that an allocation follows automatically from a particular licence category. The applicable visa capacity, eligibility, documentation and any connection with the selected premises must be confirmed at consultation before an application is structured.

What office options does Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) require: flexi desk, office or warehouse?
SRTIP publishes diverse office facilities, flexible coworking spaces, fully equipped offices, business-centre facilities, research-and-development labs, event venues and meeting spaces. It says its office solutions are intended to adapt to different business sizes. The reviewed page does not publish a universal requirement that every applicant take a particular flexi desk, office, laboratory or warehouse. Premises should instead be matched to the activity, headcount, operational substance and visa needs, with the final space requirement confirmed at consultation.

How much does a Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) license cost and what is included?
The reviewed SRTIP page refers to competitive setup costs for SMEs but does not publish one licence price or a complete package schedule that applies to every applicant. It describes an offering that can involve licensing, office facilities, research facilities, compliance support, immigration support and partner services; the selected combination will depend on the company’s needs. Publishing an unspecific headline figure would therefore be misleading. The licence price, inclusions, recurring charges and any optional services must be confirmed at consultation.

How long does it take to set up a company in Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP)?
SRTIP says that, with all documents in place, most companies can secure a licence, register with authorities and move into an office or laboratory in as little as five working days. This is a published conditional indication, not a universal promise: the stated condition is that the documents are in place, and an individual file may need activity review, approvals, signatures, premises selection or immigration work. The timing for a specific incorporation, including the steps that follow licence issuance, should be confirmed at consultation.

Can a Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) company open a corporate bank account in the UAE?
SRTIP lists banking support among its partner services and says it can assist with opening corporate and personal accounts by connecting applicants with banking partners and guiding the process. That assistance is not the same as a published bank approval standard or an account guarantee. Each bank can assess the company’s activity, ownership, source of funds, expected transactions, counterparties and operating substance independently. Banking should be planned as a separate workstream, and the relevant bank’s requirements and decision must be confirmed for the individual case.

Does a Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) company pay Corporate Tax and VAT?
SRTIP markets its free-zone setup with tax benefits and states in its FAQ that SPark provides zero corporate and personal tax. It also lists VAT registration and ongoing reporting within its compliance support. Those statements do not determine the Corporate Tax or VAT treatment of a particular company. Tax status can depend on activities, income, transactions, counterparties, records and continuing compliance. Before relying on a free-zone formation decision, the founder should obtain current tax advice for the proposed operating model and confirm the applicable filings and obligations.

Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) vs Sharjah Media City (Shams) vs SAIF Zone: which one fits your business?
The choice should begin with the operating model, not a general ranking. SRTIP publishes commercial, service, industrial and consultancy licences, plus specialist research-and-development and innovation-focused permits, alongside laboratories and innovation infrastructure. Shams describes itself as a Sharjah free zone dedicated to media and creativity, serving startups, SMEs, companies, freelancers, content creators and creative entrepreneurs. SAIF Zone describes itself as a designated Sharjah free zone and business hub for SMEs and multinational companies, with trade, service and industrial licence routes.

SRTIP may be the more aligned starting point when the company needs an innovation ecosystem, research facilities, flexible offices or a specialist research-and-development route. Shams may be the closer fit where the venture is genuinely centred on media or creative work, particularly for founders, freelancers or content creators looking to base the activity in Sharjah. SAIF Zone may be the closer fit for a trade, service or industrial company whose planning benefits from its airport free-zone context and stated links to highways, airports and seaports. Activity eligibility and the intended premises remain decisive in each case.

All three are Sharjah options, but their published positioning is different: innovation and research at SRTIP, media and creativity at Shams, and a wider trade, service and industrial proposition at SAIF Zone. Compare the selected activity, facility need, visa position, banking readiness and route to customers before choosing. For broader context, use /free-zones and review the individual profiles at /free-zones/shams and /free-zones/saif-zone.

How does Nuances and Co. set up your company in Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP)?
The engagement begins by clarifying the proposed activity, shareholder profile, research or operating requirements, expected workspace, visa needs and banking readiness. Nuances and Co. then organises these facts against SRTIP’s published licence categories, activity options, office and laboratory facilities, immigration support and compliance services. Nuances and Co.'s own licence lists the registered address Block B-B51-095 at SRTIP. This is a planning and submission process, not a substitute for the authority’s activity review or for bank and tax decisions.
Source: SRTIP — Freezone & Business Setup · https://srtip.ae/freezone-business-setup/ · September 2026
The next step is to confirm the licence route, compatible activities, premises and supporting documents, then coordinate the application and related authority steps. The SRTIP page says changes such as adding activities, upgrading facilities or changing legal structure are managed through a centralised process as the business evolves. Visa allocation, bank onboarding, tax treatment, final premises and all charges should be verified for the individual model rather than assumed from a generic package. The service is quoted individually. Use /guide and /free-zones for wider preparation before a consultation.

Founders from Brazil, Portugal and Angola also need to plan the tax side in their home country before the company starts invoicing.
